Moisturize Like You Mean It Start slathering on some gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer about a week before your appointment. Don’t go overboard on the day, though – no one likes slippery skin. 3. No Sunburns, Please Stay out of the sun like you’re a vampire. Sunburned skin is a no-go for tattooing. SPF is your BFF if you’re out and about. 4. Let Us Handle the Shaving Skip shaving the area to avoid irritation or surprise nicks. We’ve got it covered on the day. 5. Save the Party for Later No booze or recreational substances 24 hours before your appointment. Thinner blood means tougher tattooing and extra mess. Nobody wants that. 6. Feed the Machine Eat a solid meal a few hours before you arrive. Hangry clients are no fun, and you’ll need the energy. Bring snacks if it’s going to be a long one – treat it like a tattoo picnic! 7. Get Some Zzz’s Show up rested and ready. A good night’s sleep makes a world of difference. 8. Dress for Success Wear comfy, loose clothes that give easy access to the tattoo spot.
