tattoo precare
Follow these tips in the days before your appointment – your skin (and your artist) will thank you!
drink up
Keep yourself well hydrated for at least two days before your session.
Happy, hydrated skin = much easier tattooing and much better healing. It’s science!

moisturize!
Start slathering on some gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer about a week before your appointment. Staying hydrated inside and out makes an incredible difference for the tattoo artist. It's better for you too, the easier your skin takes the ink, the faster they will be done!
You can skip lotion the day of the appointment, your skin needs to be clean and fresh prior to the tattoo.
no sunburns!
Stay out of the sun like you’re a vampire. Sunburnt skin is a complete no-go for tattooing.
SPF is your best friend for going out and about.

let us handle the shaving
Skip shaving the area to avoid irritation or surprise nicks. We’ve got it covered on the big day.
The only exception being head tattoos, head hair is super coarse, get it as close to the skin as you can and we will handle the rest.
save the party for later
No booze or recreational substances 24 hours before your appointment.
Thinner blood means tougher tattooing and extra mess. Nobody wants that.
Envisioning the Future
eat up
Eat a solid meal a few hours before you arrive. Hangry clients are no fun, and you’ll need the energy.
Bring snacks if it’s going to be a long one –it's airport rules at the tattoo shop!
get some sleep
Show up rested and ready. A good night’s sleep makes a world of difference!
Envisioning the Future
dress for success
Wear comfy, loose clothes that give easy access to the tattoo spot. For example, a string bikini bathing suit top and a zip up hoodie are perfect choices for a sternum appointment.
Dark clothes are smart – ink stains happen. We keep the temp frosty cold in here for the artists comfort, bringing along a clean blanket is a great idea for a long session.
Envisioning the Future
relax
You might be anxious before your appointment, especially if this is your first tattoo (or your first big one!). Remember that we do this all day every day, you are in very good hands!
